Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes Explained (E15, E24, E25 & More)

Bosch dishwashers are reliable, but when one flashes an error code it can be hard to know whether it's a quick fix or a service call.

Here's a plain-English guide to the most common Bosch codes and what to check before booking dishwasher repair.

The Most Common Bosch Codes

CodeUsually meansFirst thing to check
E15Water in the base pan (leak protection tripped)Tilt to drain the pan; find the leak source
E22Clogged filter / drainage problemClean the filter and sump
E24Drain blockage or kinked drain hoseClear the filter, hose, and air gap
E25Drain pump blocked or pump cover looseCheck the pump impeller and cover
E09Heating element issueCall for service

Codes vary slightly by model — always check your manual.

E15: Water in the Base

E15 means the anti-leak float in the base pan has detected water. The dishwasher stops draining to protect your floor. Sometimes tilting the unit back to drain the pan clears it — but the real task is finding why water reached the base. A persistent E15 needs a technician to trace the leak.

E22, E24, E25: Drainage Problems

This family of codes almost always points to drainage. Start with the filter at the bottom of the tub, then the drain hose under the sink, the air gap by the faucet, and the drain pump. Our dishwasher not draining guide walks through each step in detail.

Before you call

Clean the filter and check the air gap — a surprising number of E22/E24 codes clear after a five-minute filter cleaning.
